Heavy-Duty Industrial Flooring Systems – Toronto & GTA
At AK Level & Polish, we install trowel-applied polyurethane mortar systems designed for extreme environmentswhere standard coatings fail.

Trowel-Applied Polyurethane Mortar Flooring
Heavy-Duty Industrial Flooring Systems – Toronto & GTA
This is a high-build, impact-resistant flooring system engineered to handle:
- Thermal shock
- Heavy traffic
- Chemical exposure
- Constant washdowns
If your facility demands durability, sanitation, and long-term performance, polyurethane mortar is the correct system—not an upgrade. Why Homeowners Upgrade Their Garage Floors
What Is Trowel-On Polyurethane Mortar?
Polyurethane mortar (also known as urethane cement) is a thick, resin-rich flooring system applied by trowel at high build thicknesses.
Typical system characteristics:
- Installed at 4mm to 12mm+ thickness
- Cementitious + polyurethane hybrid
- Monolithic, seamless finish
- High bond strength to concrete
Unlike epoxy, this system is designed to move with the substrate and withstand aggressive conditions without delamination
Where This System Is Used
This system is specified in environments where failure is not acceptable:
Food & Beverage Facilities
- Commercial kitchens
- Food processing plants
- Breweries and dairies
Industrial & Manufacturing
- Production floors
- Mechanical rooms
- High-impact work zones
Institutional & Commercial
- Hospitals and labs
- Storage and service areas
- Back-of-house operations
Wet & Thermal Shock Areas
Drainage and sloped floors
Areas with hot water washdowns
Freezers and temperature cycling zones
Our Installation Approach
1. Surface Preparation
We mechanically prepare the substrate to the required profile (ICRI CSP 3–5 or higher) using grinding or shot blasting.
2. Substrate Repair
Cracks, joints, and weak areas are repaired to ensure system integrity.
3. Primer (If Required)
Depending on conditions, we apply a compatible primer or moisture-tolerant base.
4. Trowel Application
Polyurethane mortar is hand-troweled to specified thickness, ensuring a dense, uniform build.
5. Broadcast & Texture
Optional aggregates are added for slip resistance and durability.
6. Seal / Topcoat
System is sealed for performance, cleanability, and long-term protection.
System Options
We tailor each system based on operational requirements:
- Smooth finish systems – easier cleaning, light traffic
- Slip-resistant systems – wet or high-risk areas
- Heavy-duty builds (6mm–12mm) – extreme industrial use
- Coving systems – integrated wall-to-floor transitions for hygiene
- Sloped systems – for drainage and washdown environments
